AirportFareGuide Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information AirportFareGuide uses, why it is used, when another service may receive it and what choices you have.

Who is responsible for this website?

AirportFareGuide, operated by Usman Khan, is the data controller for personal information where AirportFareGuide decides why and how it is used. AirportFareGuide is an independent airport-cost and journey-planning website, not a taxi operator, booking platform, airport authority or transport provider.

For privacy questions or requests, email airportfareguide@gmail.com. You can also read the About page or use the Contact page.

02

Information we use

You can read articles and use the core fare calculator without creating an account. AirportFareGuide does not operate an on-page contact form and does not ask visitors to submit payment-card, passport or booking details.

InformationPurpose and lawful basisWhere it goes
Calculator selectionsTo provide the calculation you request. These selections stay in your browser, so AirportFareGuide does not receive personal data from the core calculation.Processed in your browser.
Theme, units, recent searches, route-search cache and packing progressWith your consent, to remember optional choices on the same device. Without consent, these features can still work for the current page session but are not deliberately saved for a later visit.Saved in browser local storage only after you choose Allow optional storage.
Area, hotel, postcode or device-location searchesOur legitimate interest in providing the route tool you actively request. Device geolocation also requires your browser permission.Sent to the configured geocoding and routing services only when you use those tools.
Email messagesOur legitimate interest in reading and responding to correction, accessibility, editorial or privacy enquiries.Handled by the email providers used by you and AirportFareGuide.
Technical request dataOur legitimate interests in delivering, securing and troubleshooting the website.May appear in hosting logs, including IP address, browser type, requested page and request time.
Advertising or analytics dataConsent where required. These services and their non-essential storage must remain disabled until the appropriate consent controls are configured.Google or another disclosed provider, only when the relevant service is enabled.

Please do not send passwords, payment details, identity documents or private booking information by email or enter a person's name with a full private address in the location search.

03

Location search and route tools

If you select Use My Location, your browser asks for permission before sharing device coordinates. If permission is granted, the coordinates are used to identify a nearby airport or place and calculate a route. AirportFareGuide does not save those coordinates in its own database.

If you type an area, hotel or postcode, the search text is sent to the public OpenStreetMap Nominatim service. Selected coordinates may then be sent to the public OSRM routing service to calculate road distance. These providers process requests under their own terms and policies. Location and route requests can reveal an approximate or exact place, so use a broad area or postcode when an exact address is unnecessary.

You can deny location permission and use the calculator's manual airport and distance controls instead.

04

Cookies and browser local storage

Essential browser storage records whether you selected Allow optional storage or Essential only. If you allow optional storage, AirportFareGuide may also remember light or dark theme, kilometre or mile units, recent airports, route-search cache and packing-checklist progress. You can clear these choices through your browser's site-data controls.

If you choose Essential only, AirportFareGuide removes its optional saved preferences and keeps only the record needed to remember that choice. Advertising and measurement services may use cookies or similar technologies only when enabled and, where required, after the relevant consent choice.

05

Google advertising and analytics

AirportFareGuide may use Google AdSense to fund the website. When advertising is enabled, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's previous visits to AirportFareGuide or other websites. Google's advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to serve, measure and limit personalised or non-personalised ads, depending on consent and settings.

Google explains how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services on its partner sites information page. You can manage or opt out of personalised Google advertising through My Ad Center, and may manage participating third-party advertising choices through AboutAds.

Traffic measurement tools may collect aggregated usage information such as pages viewed, device category, approximate region and referral source. AirportFareGuide does not ask analytics or advertising services to receive free-text location searches or email content.

UK, EEA and Swiss visitors: AirportFareGuide will not enable Google advertising that requires consent until a Google-certified consent management platform is configured. That consent message must let you accept, reject or manage relevant choices. The small functional-storage notice on the calculator is not a substitute for this advertising CMP.
06

When other services receive information

AirportFareGuide does not sell personal information. Limited information may be processed by service providers only where needed to operate a feature or the website:

  • Hostinger hosts the website, delivers pages, maintains operational logs and provides security services.
  • OpenStreetMap Nominatim and OSRM process place searches, coordinates and route requests that you initiate.
  • ExchangeRate-API supplies exchange-rate data; the browser requests rates without sending your name or email address.
  • Google services process email messages and may process cookie, device and usage data when advertising or measurement features are enabled.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a genuine business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

07

Your choices and privacy rights

You can refuse browser location access, clear local storage and cookies, use browser tracking controls, manage consent choices when the consent message is available, or contact us about information contained in an email you sent.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information, and to withdraw consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. These rights can have legal limits. Email your request to airportfareguide@gmail.com. We may need enough information to verify that a request relates to you.

Your right to object: where AirportFareGuide relies on legitimate interests, you may object to that processing based on your particular situation. Email us with the subject "Privacy objection" so the request can be reviewed.

AirportFareGuide does not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

People in the UK may also raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office.

08

Retention, security and international processing

The essential storage choice remains until you clear site data or replace that choice. Optional preferences remain until you clear them, choose Essential only, or the website replaces them. Emails are reviewed for deletion after the enquiry and reasonable follow-up are complete, unless a longer record is needed for security, legal obligations or a dispute. Hosting logs follow Hostinger's configured security and operational retention schedule; AirportFareGuide does not keep a separate copy unless it is needed to investigate an incident.

Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Providers may process information outside the UK. Where UK data-protection rules apply, transfers should rely on an applicable adequacy regulation or appropriate safeguards such as approved contractual protections. Contact AirportFareGuide to ask which safeguard applies to a specific provider or to request available information about it.

09

Children's privacy

AirportFareGuide is a general travel-planning service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information can contact us to request a review.

10

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when website features, service providers or legal requirements change. The reviewed date at the top shows the latest published revision. Material changes should be explained clearly rather than applied silently.
